SAS
SAS is a software solution that is well-established in certain industries such as finance and insurance. The software was originally built to provide statistical analysis but has been expanded to support a large variety of other, connected functions such as ETL and modeling. I have used several SAS products over the years, but my current duties make use of the following:
- SAS Enterprise Guide: A client-server configuration of SAS that allows for co-location of a dedicated Linux server and relational databases (RDB). This facilitates data analysis and model tasks with SAS while using the RDB for processing of large datasets as much as possible.
- SAS Viya: SAS' newest offering that adds cloud computing, scalable processing, and integration of other languages (e.g. Java, Python, R, etc.) within SAS programs.
- SAS Studio: A browser-based version of SAS Enterprise Guide for use without installation of a client program.
